Vienna-Schwechat Airport is currently looking for young people who want to do an apprenticeship at Austria's largest airport. Board member Günther Ofner even says that they are “urgently looking for apprentices”.

Flughafen Wien AG is currently training 53 apprentices in the fields of electrical and building technology, vehicle and commercial vehicle technology, metal technology, sanitary, ventilation and heating technology and IT. After the basic training in the company's own training workshop, there is a smooth transition to the specialist departments, where apprentices are familiarized with the job-specific content. The airport also provides the young people with additional qualifications: regular seminars in the field of personality development, English courses and math coaching are on the program. There is also the option of completing the apprenticeship with a high school diploma. A special highlight is an exchange program with international airports, which apprentices can complete as part of their training.

State Secretary Claudia Plakolm recently visited and saw for herself the apprenticeship training at Vienna International Airport. Among other things, the government member said: “Apprenticeship is not plan B if school doesn’t work out, but plan A for practical training to start your career. Vienna Airport is a model company that manages to get more and more young women interested in technical professions”.

Airport Board Member Günther Ofner explained: “Apprentices are urgently needed at the airport and we cordially invite interested young people to apply to us. You can expect future-oriented training: Well-trained specialists are always in demand, especially in technical areas - for modern offices with increasingly complex building technology, many building and electrical engineers will be needed in the next few years. Professions such as electrical and building technology and ventilation and heating technology are therefore very promising job profiles. An apprenticeship at Vienna Airport is therefore the perfect prerequisite for getting off to a good start in professional life”.
