The Spanish airline Air Nostrum was awarded the contract to operate a subsidized route between Andorra - La Seu d'Urgell and Madrid. The government of Andorra had previously advertised this.
The small European country does not have its own airport on its national territory. Andorra Airport - La Seu d'Urgell is located in Spain. In order to be able to improve the connectivity, airlines were lured into the framework a tender with subsidies. There have recently been no regular scheduled flights.
Air Nostrum will initially fly twice a week on the subsidized route from December 17, 2021. It is planned that ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft will be used. The route is to be served from Madrid, where Air Nostrum has a large base.
