The Federal Republic of Germany classifies South Africa again as a virus variant area. Associated with this are restrictions in air traffic. The airlines are instructed that only German citizens and persons with a place of residence or right of residence in Germany may be carried.

A 14-day quarantine must be entered, regardless of the vaccination or recovery status. There is no way to free yourself from this. The background to the measure is that a new variant of the corona virus was found in South Africa. With the de facto ban on non-stop flights, Germany wants to ensure that this is not brought in. The regulation comes into force on the night from Friday to Saturday.

In the past, Germany has often practiced such defacto transport bans. However, this time only non-stop flights are recorded. The conditions do not apply to connecting connections, which is why it is very easy for travelers to bypass the quarantine - even with the help of incorrect information in the entry registration. Furthermore, the Federal Republic of Germany is repeatedly in the crossfire of criticism because of inadequate and, in some cases, nonexistent controls.
