Especially in spring, many cyclists are interested in excursions with their "bikes". Within the Verkehrsverbund Ostregion it is possible to take bicycles with you on some routes. However, a surcharge may be required for this.

In the regional buses that operate on behalf of the VOR, bicycles are only allowed if they are equipped with so-called bicycle hitchhikers or bicycle trailers. With the bike hitchhikers in the Traisental and Ybbstal, passengers can take their bikes with them on a bike trailer for a surcharge of €2 (or €1 for bikes from under 15-year-olds). The regional bus line 369 to Kirchberg/Change even takes bikes for free on weekends and public holidays.

The situation is a little different with the Austrian Federal Railways, because in local trains (high-speed train, regional train and regional express), which are marked with a bicycle symbol, you can always take “bicycles” with you, subject to availability. Please note: there is a surcharge here as well.

Within Vienna, holders of the Wiener Linien annual ticket can take bicycles free of charge on ÖBB trains – but not with the climate ticket. Taking a bike on the regional bus is only possible in special bike hitchhikers or buses with bike trailers. Three regional bus lines, which run along the cycle paths in the Traisental, Ybbstal and to Kirchberg/Change, will be equipped with an additional trailer for up to 20 bicycles during the season. Cyclists can use these bus lines to transfer between stages or for the public outward and return journey. A place guarantee cannot be granted.
