Portugal's government is tightening the entry requirements with effect from December 1, 2021. Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered also have to show a negative corona test. At the same time, tourists also need a negative PCR or antigen test in addition to proof of vaccination or recovery when visiting bars and discos.
Unlike Bulgaria, that Tightened entry rules earlier this week, Portugal also accepts antigen results based on current information. Bulgaria insists on PCR results. Both Portugal and Bulgaria make no exceptions for those who have been vaccinated or recovered, so that all persons who want to enter the country have to present a negative test result.
It remains to be seen whether other EU countries will join these changes. So far the only EU country that only allows vaccinated people to enter, is the island state of Malta. So far, despite the high incidence, it has not put any EU members on the so-called Dark Red List.
