The private railway operator Regiojet will launch a new connection between Prague and the Ukrainian city of Chop on March 27, 2024. According to the company, they have already started selling tickets.

The new Prague-Kosice-Chop connection will be, in addition to the Prague-Premyšl route, another alternative to reach the Ukrainian border with a night connection without changing trains, with the possibility of changing to the Ukrainian railways. The biggest advantage of this connection is the convenience of crossing the border between Slovakia and Ukraine, where you do not have to wait in queues at the border lasting several hours, as with buses, which means an unpredictable increase in travel time. For passengers, this means a significant increase in travel comfort and a very fast and reliable connection. It is also the first 100% commercial connection between the European Union and Ukraine.

RegioJet will expand its connection network by supplementing the night service on the existing Prague - Košice route with direct buses that continue from Košice to the Ukrainian city of Chop, which serves as a transfer point for travel to Ukraine. The first train will run on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 on the route Prague (21:38 p.m.) – Košice (6:38 a.m.) – Chop (9:35 a.m. our time or 10:35 a.m. Ukrainian time). . In the opposite direction from Chop (17:35 p.m. Ukrainian time or 16:35 p.m. our time) via Košice (20:14 p.m.) to Prague (5:57 a.m.), the first train will be on Thursday, March 28, 2024. depart.

“We are very pleased that we can offer our customers another alternative for traveling to Ukraine, especially to the Zakarpattia region. In addition to the existing night train Prague – Přemyšl, this daily connection means another opportunity to travel directly and comfortably to Ukraine in sleeping cars, which offer incomparable comfort compared to cars or buses,” says Jakub Svoboda, Managing Director of RegioJet Zugverkehr.

The new connection expands access to Ukrainian railways and creates space for easier travel between the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine. It also offers more comfort on this route with sleeper trains and a wide range of services included in the fare. Passengers receive free breakfast, dinner and other services they are already used to on the yellow trains, such as: B. free WiFi or free coffee and water during the journey. This connection represents a significant improvement in the comfort of traveling to the Zakarpattia region compared to the previous, less comfortable journey by bus.
