The government of Saudi Arabia has reactivated the visa-on-arrival program that was suspended due to the corona pandemic. Citizens of the EU Schengen area, the USA and the United Kingdom, among others, can now again receive their visa upon entry.
Previously, Saudi Arabia largely lifted the entry restrictions imposed due to the pandemic. If you do not come from one of the three areas mentioned in the first paragraph, you have to fly into the country with Saudia, Flynas or Flyadel. A free tourist visa, valid for one year, will be issued upon arrival.
Citizens of all countries eligible for the e-visa program launched in 2019 can also obtain a visa on arrival, regardless of the airline they are traveling with. Visitors are also required to purchase COVID-19 insurance, which can be obtained at any of Saudi Arabia's international airports.
“The reintroduction of the Visa-on-Arrival program is the final step in restoring Saudi Arabia to a level of openness it was before the pandemic, making it one of the most accessible leisure, business travel destinations in the world - and religious travel,” said His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb, Chairman of STA. "This government decision will continue to support the many thousands of people who depend on tourism for their livelihoods, while welcoming the world back to the country with the warm hospitality that the Saudi people are known for."
