From April 8, 2022, the private Westbahn will run four times a day between Vienna and Munich. Ticket sales via the Internet began on Wednesday evening, the company confirmed to Aviation.Direct.

So far, Westbahn trains have been running between Vienna and Salzburg. From April 8, 2022, four course pairs per day will initially travel to Munich Central Station. There are no scheduled intermediate stops between the city of Mozart and Munich-Ost, where you can change to the S-Bahn in the direction of Franz-Josef-Strauß-Flughafen Munich.

From August 2, 2022, the Westbahn will probably increase to six daily trains to/from Bavaria. A spokeswoman explained that this is currently not possible due to a construction site in the German rail network.

Climate ticket holders do not need a ticket to travel to Salzburg Hbf. For the German part of the route, Westbahn offers the so-called “KlimaPlus-Ticket München” at a price of EUR 14,90 per person and route. This can also be paid with the west points, which can also be collected within Austria with the climate ticket. According to a spokeswoman, ticket sales via the tobacconists and the Westshops should start on Thursday. The regular internet price for Salzburg-Munich is 26,90 euros in the standard class.
